Live from the Fairfax Hotel: In April, Washington DC can be an amazingly delightful and livable city.

It is the right temperature. There are surprisingly-few biting bugs. Its relative cheapness compared to New York or London (or parts of LA and San Francisco) keeps you from feeling that you are being exploited grossly. And here are so many interesting things to do.

All you have to do is offer up the traffic: simply accept that, in Northwest, south of Dupont Circle, east of Key Bridge, and west of the Capitol you are always likely to get places faster taking the metro and walking than trying to maneuver your way through the streets in some sort of powered vehicle.

The next time I am here, it will be time to try bike share...
