Defending his brother's record as president at CNN's Republican presidential debate, Jeb Bush had a simple answer: 'He kept us safe.'
And the next morning, his campaign reiterated the point:
But it's not true.
This is a photograph of George W Bush standing on the ruins of the Twin Towers, a pair of buildings in New York City that were destroyed during Bush's administration by foreign terrorists who killed thousands of people. This was by far the worst loss of American life to terrorists in American history. And Bush's presidency didn't start on September 12. It started back in January.
