Daily Telegraph: "The return of the Duke of Connaught from his five-year stint as Governor-General of Canada...

...appears to be one of the major pieces of news in the Telegraph’s estimation today, given its prominent placing on page 9 and the subject of a leader on page 8. Given the paper’s veneration of royalty (the Duke being the third and by now only surviving son of Queen Victoria) this perhaps shouldn’t be that surprising, although there is some irony in the fact that his Duchess was a Hohenzollern born in Prussia making her a scion of the enemy. Not that you’d know this from the reporting, which is much nicer to her than her second cousin the Kaiser gets on page 7 where he is pilloried for expressing “satisfaction at the great losses of the enemy”...
